Special Substance Testing Services by Indoor-Restore

Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Testing

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain products. Organic chemicals are commonly used as ingredients in household building materials, appliances and products. Paints, varnishes, and wax all contain organic solvents, as do many cleaning, disinfecting, degreasing, and hobby products. Many of these products can release organic compounds while you are using them, and, to some degree, when they are stored.

VOC testing services by Indoor-Restore can detect a variety of indoor airborne contaminants

Common sources of VOC gas:

  • Carpets, Carpet Pads and Adhesives
  • Paints and Varnishes
  • Vinyl Flooring
  • Several Other Building Materials and Products
  • Aerosol Sprays
  • Cleaners and Disinfectants
  • Machine Fuels and Products

The health effects from inhaling any organic chemical depends on how much is in the air, how long and how often a person breathes it in and the body type of the individual. Breathing low levels of VOCs for long periods of time can increase the risk of health problems. Studies suggest that exposure to VOCs may make symptoms worse in people who have asthma, other respiratory conditions, or who are particularly sensitive to chemicals.

VOC testing can target particular substances to determine if the they are present and in what concentration in the air of your indoor environment. Following testing, a complete report of laboratory findings and an analysis report by a specialist will be issued to the client.
